Suggestions For a Triglyceride - Lowering Diet
|
Triglycerides are fats that can be found in the bloodstream. Triglycerides are not needed by the body. In fact, if there were too much of it in the blood, the blood would thicken and cause high blood pressure. And everybody knows how high blood pressure can damage the heart. So if you are diagnosed by your doctor with high triglyceride level, you should start following a diet that could help lower it. It may take a total change of your lifestyle so be ready for it.
The first step to lower triglyceride is to moderate your carbohydrate intake. Both sugar and carbohydrates can trigger triglyceride production in the blood. Aside from those two, alcohol must be removed as well. Stay clear of foods and food items that does the body more harm than good.
Create a diet that would lower triglyceride by taking out sugary and sweetened food items. Eat jams, honey, molasses, pies, jellies, cakes, cookies, cakes, and ice cream in moderation. Better yet, avoid eating them altogether.
All types of drinks containing alcoholic must be avoided as well. This includes beer, liquors, and wines. The effect of alcohol in your blood is the same as sugar. Keep in mind that alcohol is primarily fermented sugar so you have to stay clear of it too.
Aside from sugary foods and alcohol, you should also stop eating red meat all the time. Go lean if you really have to. But then again, your better choices would be turkey, chicken, and fish. Start loving these food items instead.
To fully lower your triglyceride level, the food items that should comprise your diet are as follows:
Fruit juices
Fruit juices are the best source of Vitamin C. And Vitamin C is an antioxidant that can help lower triglyceride in your blood. So instead of six-pack colas and sodas, stock up on fresh fruit juices instead.
Salmon, Sardines, and Tuna
As stated earlier, fish are the best sources of protein for your body rather than red meat. Your body is going to need the Omega 3 fatty acids that fish and fish oil contains. It can help lower down your triglyceride level.
All types of fruits and vegetables
Not all people like eating vegetables. But you have to start liking them now that you have a major health concern. Vegetables are rich in minerals, vitamins, and fiber. They would do your body a lot of good when it comes to lowering triglycerides. Fruits provide the same effects as well.
Wholegrain
Your breakfast should now be composed of cereals, rye bread, oats, and wholegrain breads. You can forget about bacons, eggs, and hams for the mean time. Wholegrain is rich in fiber that your body needs to absorb and flush out both cholesterol and triglyceride present in the blood.
Insert these food suggestions in your daily diet and you should be able to live life to the fullest again. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Once heart problems develop, it gets very hard to treat. Eat right. Eat healthy. And you’ll live longer and happier.
