This is the seventh article in the Lotto Lies series. There seems to be no shortage of skeptics and critics who enjoy expressing their disdain at the use of Lottery Software to improve a player’s chances of winning the lottery. The standard fare of criticisms runs something like this:

• There couldn’t be any lottery trends because it’s a random draw.

• The states make sure that everyone has the same chance of winning the lottery.

• There is no possible advantage because it’s a fair game.

• Using a computer to find the lottery numbers to play is no better than using tarot cards, Ouija board or a fortune teller.

Even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, from the analysis of the histories of winning numbers from every lottery, the skeptics and critics fall back on what they think is their trump card. In previous articles in this series, I’ve given a few examples that address the question of the existence of lottery trends. It’s one of my favorite topics. But, in this article, I’m going to resist that temptation and focus on this cheating question.
